Capacity Building for International Emergency Medical Assistance Program-Training

- In 2022, introductory coursework in emergency medicine was offered online. A Geneva University Hospitals team then came to Taiwan for more advanced coursework. The Geneva team also assisted with course design. Feedback and suggestions from previous years’ students were collected to improve presentations on international humanitarian law and to add content on issues such as war and other forms of armed conflict.
- From April 24 to 28, five seed trainers attended lectures in Geneva. They were also briefed at the Geneva University Hospitals on the organization’s facilities and lifesaving equipment by Dr. Olivier Hagon.
- The Forum on Geneva University Hospitals Emergency Medical Care Practices was held on June 13, 2023. Members of Taiwan’s disaster response medical teams spoke on their training in Geneva and discussed integrating what they learned into Taiwan’s training regime.
- During the 2023 International Disaster Medical Assistance Team Advanced Training Workshop held from September 4 to 6, 2023, lecturers from Geneva University spoke on providing the optimal first response following a natural disaster, public health crises, and technological disasters. Discussions with trainees were also held to address appropriate compliance with international humanitarian aid law and humanitarian aid principles.
