TaiwanIHA reaches out with Nepal post-disaster assessment (April 2015)

On April 25, 2015, a magnitude of 7.8 earthquake occurred in Nepal. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs encouraged TaiwanIHA to send an evaluation team to Nepal for the post-disaster assessment of medical and disease prevention needs during April 28 to May 5.
The team’s tasks included: establishing contact and cooperation with the Nepalese government, international organizations and other foreign assistance teams; evaluating the level of damage to the local health system and the need for medical assistance from Taiwan; and completing the steps needed for a foreign medical mission team. TaiwanIHA also donated five boxes of medical supplies, and Futung District Senior Assistant Health Official Bishnu Prd. Chapagin received the donation on behalf of the Nepalese government.
